Long Bio

Stacy Stokes wrote her first story when she was six, a rip off of The Wizard of Oz but with nacho cheese. She kept writing and eventually found her voice in speculative mysteries and thrillers. So far, none of her other characters have had predilections for liquid cheeses.

Stacy grew up in Carrollton, Texas and still considers Texas her home even though she's lived in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco. While in Chicago, she studied and performed improv comedy at The Second City and IO theaters. She's since hung up her comedy hat, but the occasional pun slips in whether her friends like it or not. (She's pretty sure they like it. Most of the time.) She currently lives in Oakland, California with her family.

When not writing, you can find her hiking the Oakland Hills with her dog, Elvis Presley, enjoying time with family and friends, or devouring audiobooks like it's her job. She holds a degree in marketing from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree in business from the Wharton School and works as a marketing professional in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry. Her debut novel, Remember Me Gone, was a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection, an ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers Nominee and nominated for the Colorado Blue Spruce award. Her next book, THE DARKNESS RISES, comes out in April 2024 from Viking Books for Young Readers (PRH.)  Say hello to her on Twitter and instagram: @stacyastokes.
